Donate nowDean Cliff has been running an online Bible Study (using Zoom) since the Covid Pandemic, and we have looked at three gospels, Acts and Romans. This autumn we are going to look at Philippians and Ephesians which are some of Paul’s letters to the churches. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 8-9.15pm. If you would like to find out more, please contact Dean Cliff on dean@rosscathedral.ie.
We meet once a month on a Saturday night from 7.30-9.30pm. There is a variety of activities planned where we can have an enjoyable evening with our friends and learn something about our Christian Faith.
On the last Thursday of each month at 10.30am there is a Holy Communion Serivce in St. Fachtna's Cathedral.
At these services, the prayers that have been left by visitors to the Cathedral on the prayer tree during the previous month will be dedicated. See diary section of our newsletter for dates.
This is an ecumenical serivce that is shared between St. Fachtna's Cathedral and St. Fachtna's Roman Catholic Church on the first Wednesday of every month at 8pm. It is a reflective serivce with readings, music, silence and prayers. Check our Parish Newsletter for the location of the next Taizé Service.
We run a Summer Holiday Club this summer and we are in the process of planning children's ministry throughout the year. We are looking for leaders and helpers to get involved.
Each month we are running Messy Church, see the Parish Newsletter for the date of the next Messy Church.
We also have an All-Age service in St. Fachtna's Cathedral on the second Sunday of each month.
On Friday evenings (Starting in October and Finishing at the end of April) we have table tennis in the Cathedral Hall.
Juniors (under 18's) from 7-8.15pm
Adults from 8-10pm.
Ross has a Mothers' Union branch that meets once a month from September to May. The purpose of the Mothers Union is to support marriage and family life. Details of their meetings are in our parish newsletter.
St. Fachtna's Cathedral has a ring of 6 bells in the tower. We are currently training up a new band of ringers and are looking for volunteers from the community who would be interested in learning how to ring the bells. We practice every Thursday evening from 6.00-7.30pm. Anyone from the age of 12 upwards is welcome to come along on a Thursday night to see what is involved. Contact Dean Cliff for further information.
Would you like to learn more about the basics of the Christian Faith? That is what the Alpha Course is all about. On Thursday evenings from 8-9.30pm in the Harbour Bar in Leap we will watch a short video, which will be followed by exploring the day’s theme through small group discussion over tea/coffee. This is being run between the Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic Church. We will be starting on the 3rd of October. If you would like more information or would like to book a place, please let me know.
The Alpha Course was developed to help people explore who Jesus is and allow them to ask questions about the Christian faith. Some of the topics that are covered are:
Who is Jesus? Why did he die? How can I have faith? How to pray? Why should I read the Bible? What about evil? Who is the Holy Spirit? Does God heal today?
If you would like to join us for the Alpha Course in Leap, please let Dean Cliff know.

Ross Union of Parishes is part of the Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross. We have five historic church buildings in Glandore, Leap, Castleventry, Union Hall and Rosscarbery. There has been a Christian presence in Rosscarbery since 590AD, when St. Fachtna established a monastry here.
Following consultation, prayer and reflection, we launched our Parish Vision for 2023-2027 in September 2023. You can read it in full here:
Ross Union of Parishes – Parish Vision 2023-2027
Diversity - Welcome One and All
We recognise that families today come in different shapes and sizes and from a variety of faith and cultural backgrounds. A high proportion of our community are Interchurch families (Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic) and we aim to be welcoming and make everyone feel spiritually at home in our parish.
Involvement - Space and a Role for All
Primarily we demonstrate our commitment to one another by generously offering our time, talents, and financial resources to God’s glory, while also cherishing the past through the upkeep of our historic buildings.
Spiritual Growth - Knowing and Sharing our Faith.
Provide a variety of opportunities to worship and learn together on both Sundays and throughout the week, so that every member can learn, explain, and live out their Christian faith with confidence.
Social Life – To grow our Community.
To create opportunities to get to know each other better through social events. We seek to provide occasions for those who are not as involved in the life of the parish to come along and feel welcome and included.
Outreach – Seeking to share the Christian faith with those who have little or no connection to Church.
Offer courses and events where the Good News about Jesus’ love and rescue can be explored and shared with those who are interested in developing their Christian faith.
Sustainability – Environment and Finance.
We want to develop our parish to be sustainable financially and make decisions that protect and nurture our environment in the context of the global challenges we face today and for our children tomorrow.
Children and Youth – Provide opportunities for developing friendships and discovering faith.
In the absence of the community and teaching of a Church of Ireland primary school in our parish, we seek to develop opportunities to help children and teenagers (0-18’s) to get to know each other, teach the stories of Jesus from the Bible and to understand the traditions of the Church of Ireland through Children’s and Youth Ministry.
Dean Cliff is originally from Bandon in West Cork, and started his current role in July 2023.
